This was the maiden effort of the Apollo Sound, whose iconoclastically breezy sound made them the most popular salsa band in the late '60s. Bandleader/bongo player Roberto Roena and arranger/trumpet player Elias Lopes concoct one memorable tune after the other, with tunes like "Tu Loco Loco y Yo Tranquilo," "El Escapulario," the classic "Sonando con Puerto Rico" (composed by Bobby Capo), and "El Sordo" (arranged by Bobby Valentin). These were the ingredients that made this musical organization (with a two-trumpet-trombone-tenor sax lineup) a perennial favorite. Classic Puerto Rican salsa.
